About this course

This training has been designed based on latest child research and the Montessori pedagogy for the early years.  Our Montessori Nanny Training gives your nanny the skills to create a nurturing, development-focused environment for your child.

The course will change the way your nanny is interacting with your child. She will:

Better understand the key elements of creative play and playful learning.

Have a set of engaging Montessori activities at hand that foster fine- and gross motor skills, creativity, and early literacy.

Gain confidence to use a positive educative approach and better respond to your child´s interests while navigating emotions and tantrums. 

Provide a safe and inspiring environment in which your child can grow towards greater independence.



Hey, I am Maria,

As an expat mom of 3 young children and Montessori certified Early Years Educator, I know how difficult it can be to have access to good quality toys and activities and to communicate your educational philosophy to your nanny.  This is why I started the Nanny Training when living in Addis Abeba.

I have been privileged to train over 300 nannies in more than 15 countries in play-based learning and positive education. I love seeing how every day items can be transformed into fun play ideas in a few minutes. You do not need a lot to come up with amazing creative play and learning ideas. I'll show you and your nanny how.


Our Trainer Team in Addis Abeba

I am privileged to work with Mahlet, our training facilitator in Addis.  


Mahlet is an experienced pre-school teacher in a Montessori kindergarten in Addis Abeba. She also worked for many years as Nanny herself with children between 0 and 6 years old. She is passionate about Montessori and play-based learning and has been leading our teacher training in Addis. Mahlet will facilitate the training onsite in close cooperation with Maria who will supervise the coaching and virtual training part.

The Key Topics we will cover

Montessori Play-Based Learning: Core values of observation, hands-on learning, structured and guided play and independence.

Positive Education Techniques: How to deal with emotions and guide your child with positive discipline and healthy routines. 

Safety, Hygiene and the Play Environment: Setting up an inspiring and safe play environment.

Practical Life Skills: Educating for greater independence and responsibility

Creativity: Engaging children in arts and crafts, music and drama using recycled and natural materials. 


What is included

The training includes 5 weeks on-the-job training with
3 training workshops and 1-2 Learning Playdates (children welcome)

  • 15 March, 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
  • 22 March, 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
  • 28 March & 4 April, 10 AM - 12 PM, Learning Playdates (at one of the family houses)
  • 12 April, 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM


The training location will be around Kasanchis/ Bole, tbc. 


In addition, we will have weekly activity challenges to implement specific Montessori activities for different ages (6 months - 6 years) at home.


The nannies will all be part of a WhatsApp Learning Group, where  they will get:

  • Training materials and Montessori activities
  • Daily follow-up and personal coaching and support on their activities by me.


After successful completion of the training, the nannies receive a Certificate of Completion
